About the Role

Rydon Primary School is looking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to join our team, providing additional support for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in Year 5.

The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers, the SENDCo and other members of staff to support pupils with a range of additional needs, including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

The role will involve providing individual and small-group support, helping pupils access the curriculum, develop independence and achieve their full potential in a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing individual and small-group support according to pupils' needs.
  • Implementing strategies and interventions identified in pupils' EHCPs and individual support plans.
  • Supporting pupils' emotional, social and communication needs.
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and positive engagement in learning.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, the SENDCo and other professionals to ensure pupils receive appropriate support.
  • Helping to create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

We Are Looking for Someone Who:

  • Has experience of working with children with special educational needs, ideally within a primary school setting.
  • Is patient, caring, flexible and able to build positive relationships with pupils.
  • Has a good understanding of inclusive education and supporting children with additional needs.
  • Can work effectively as part of a team and follow guidance from teaching staff and the SENDCo.
  • Has high expectations for all children and is committed to helping every pupil succeed.
  • Is enthusiastic, reliable and willing to adapt their approach to meet individual needs.
