Job description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join the team at Edgar Wood Academy. This is an exciting opportunity to support students aged 11-16, helping them to overcome barriers to learning, achieve their potential and thrive both academically and personally.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, the SENCo and other professionals to provide high-quality classroom support and targeted interventions for students with SEND, SEMH needs and other additional learning needs. You will play a key role in promoting inclusion, independence, confidence and achievement, ensuring every student can fully access the curriculum and school life.
This opportunity comes at an exciting time for the academy. Following our recent Ofsted inspection, Edgar Wood Academy has successfully improved from Requires Improvement to Expected Standard, reflecting the hard work, dedication and ambition of our staff team and wider school community. As part of our continued journey of improvement, we are looking for individuals who share our commitment to delivering exceptional support and outcomes for young people.
If you are passionate about making a positive difference to students' lives and want to be part of a supportive, ambitious and rapidly developing school, we would be delighted to hear from you.
Training & Development Opportunities
At Edgar Wood Academy, we are committed to investing in our staff and supporting their professional growth. As part of Altus Education Partnership, you will benefit from a wide range of high-quality professional development opportunities, including role-specific training, SEND-focused development, mentoring and opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across the Trust. Whether you are looking to develop your expertise within specialist support or progress your career within education, we are committed to helping you achieve your ambitions.
Safeguarding Statement
Altus Education Partnership is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references, online checks in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance, and all other pre-employment checks. We are committed to creating a culture of vigilance where safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.
Applications are handled on Teaching Vacancies (GOV.UK).
