This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about education and enjoys helping young people develop their confidence, independence and love of learning. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support learning in the classroom, helping to create a positive, inclusive and engaging environment where every student can thrive.

This role may particularly appeal to graduates who are considering a career in teaching or education and are looking to gain valuable experience within a secondary school environment. It offers an opportunity to develop practical skills, build relationships with students and gain first-hand insight into the work of teachers and support staff.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
  2. Work with individuals and small groups of students to reinforce learning and provide additional support.
  3. Help students develop their confidence, independence and learning skills.
  4. Support students with a range of learning needs, adapting approaches where appropriate.
  5. Promote positive behaviour and encourage students to participate fully in learning.
  6. Assist with preparing classroom resources and maintaining a safe, organised learning environment.
  7. Work collaboratively with teachers and colleagues to support student progress and wellbeing.

We Are Looking For Someone Who

  1. Holds a relevant Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent, or has the skills and experience needed to fulfil the role.
  2. Has experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational setting, or is keen to gain this experience.
  3. Has a positive, patient and encouraging approach.
  4. Communicates effectively and can build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
  5. Can work effectively as part of a team while also using their own initiative.
  6. Is committed to inclusion and helping every student achieve their potential.
  7. Is enthusiastic about supporting young people and developing their own skills and experience.

What We Can Offer

  1. The opportunity to join a supportive and enthusiastic team.
  2. A rewarding role where you can make a positive difference to students' learning, wellbeing and enjoyment of school.
  3. Valuable experience for graduates considering a future career in teaching or education.
  4. Opportunities for professional development and continued learning.
  5. Access to an Employee Assistance Programme and employee benefits.
  6. Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS)
  7. A commitment to staff wellbeing and professional growth.
