Job description
Brixington Primary Academy are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and highly motivated individual to work alongside the class teacher across all areas of the curriculum.
The ideal candidate will:
- Build a positive, trusting relationship with a pupil with hearing impairment and developmental language delay, helping them access all aspects of school life and learning.
- Support the development of speech, language and communication skills through the consistent use of visual strategies, signing, modelling of language and structured communication activities.
- Work closely with teaching staff, the Teacher of the Deaf and Speech and Language professionals to implement personalised programmes and specialist recommendations.
- Facilitate participation in classroom learning, adapting resources and instructions to ensure full access to the curriculum and opportunities for independent success.
- Promote positive social interaction and friendships by supporting communication between the pupil and peers during lessons, playtimes and group activities.
- Support the effective use and monitoring of hearing aids and assistive listening equipment, helping the pupil develop increasing independence and self-advocacy skills.
