Trust EHCP Coordinator

Swale Academies Trust · Sittingbourne · Kent

Job description

Swale Academies Trust is seeking a dedicated Trust EHCP Coordinator (HLTA Level) to join our team. In this targeted capacity role, you will work under the direction of the Trust SEND Lead to provide crucial administrative and operational support across primary and secondary Trust schools.

You will focus on auditing existing SEND backlogs, collating multi-agency evidence, drafting applications, and submitting robust Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) requests to secure vital resources for pupils with complex needs

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead the collation of evidence, drafting and timely submission of EHCNA requests across designated schools.

- Audit existing caseloads and flexibly deploy across schools to tackle application backlogs where demand is highest.

- Serve as a central point of contact between school SENCOs, teaching staff, health professionals, and external agencies to gather essential assessment data.

- Maintain complete working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and local authority criteria to ensure legal alignment.

Key Requirements:

- GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at grade C/4 or above.

- Level 2 or 3 Diploma (or equivalent) and working at or towards HLTA professional standards.

- Proven experience navigating the EHCP application process and compiling statutory assessment paperwork.

- Experience working with children within a learning environment.

- Solid working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, local authority processes, and high-incidence SEND need types.

- Exceptional written communication skills for drafting precise, legally defensible reports.

- Strong organisational skills, initiative, and the ability to manage multiple complex cases under strict statutory deadlines.

- Flexibility to adapt to different school environments and travel across Trust sites as required (although much of the work will be able to be completed virtually).

Full details of the requirements of the post can be found in the accompanying recruitment pack.
