Job description

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Unqualified Teacher to join our dedicated team. In this rewarding role, you will support pupils across both our Jubilee Centre and mainstream provision, helping to ensure that all children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), can access learning and achieve their full potential. You will work under the professional supervision of qualified teachers to deliver learning activities, interventions, and targeted support to individuals and groups of pupils. This is a fixed-term contract ending on 24 July 2027.

As an Unqualified Teacher, you will:

  • Support the Class Teacher in delivering high-quality learning activities to pupils in class and small groups.
  • Lead targeted interventions, including small-group English withdrawal sessions where required.
  • Deliver tailored support programmes to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to pupil records.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to support positive behaviour and effective classroom management.
  • Provide guidance and day-to-day support to Learning Support Assistants where appropriate.
  • Uphold safeguarding policies and promote the welfare and wellbeing of all pupils.
  • Work mornings within our Jubilee Centre provision and afternoons within the mainstream setting

About You

As an unqualified teacher, you will be confident in your ability to motivate and inspire pupils to learn in creative and engaging ways. You will be a flexible team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a passion for supporting children to succeed.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above, including English and Mathematics, or equivalent.
  • Experience working within an educational setting, preferably supporting children with SEND.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Competent IT skills and the ability to record, analyse, and present information.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and families.
  • Understanding of safeguarding practices and a commitment to promoting student welfare.

Due to the nature of this role, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of criminal record disclosure to be undertaken. In making your application, it is essential you disclose whether you have any pending charges, convictions, bind-overs or cautions and, if so, for which offences. This post will be exempt from the provisions of Section 4 (2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Therefore, applicants are not entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are ‘spent’ under the provision of the Act, and, in the event of the employment being taken up; any failure to disclose such convictions will result in dismissal or disciplinary action. The fact that a pending charge, conviction, bind-over or caution has been recorded against you will not necessarily debar you from consideration for this appointment.
