Windsor Academy Trust · Halesowen · Dudley

Job description

WAT Director of Maths

Permanent

Start Date: January 2027

About Windsor Academy Trust

Welcome to our central directorate. We are a highly motivated and strategic team committed to driving educational excellence across our entire network. Operating at the heart of our organisation, our executive professionals work collaboratively to shape policy, support our school leaders, and ensure we deliver on our shared mission for every child. Within the achievement team, we are dedicated to securing rapid improvement in performance and the best possible outcomes for students, particularly those whose learning is vulnerable.

We are an ambitious and proud family of 15 schools. Leading at the executive level within the Trust means you benefit from shared expertise, wider opportunities, and a powerful network of support. This collective power allows us to focus relentlessly on our shared moral purpose: unlocking the academic and personal potential of every child, while ensuring our staff thrive across our communities.

About the Role

As the WAT Director for Maths, you will drive improvement in curriculum quality and outcomes, the quality of teaching, and assessment in secondary Maths. Reporting to the Director of Achievement, you will support Faculty Directors in holding a shared concept of quality across curricula, teaching, and assessment, including a collective drive of the shared curriculum for the subject across the secondary phase.

You will help position the Trust as a regional and national leader in education for subject curriculum development, enhancing our reputation for subject-specific practice (including curriculum quality, enactment, innovation, and teacher development). You will also be expected to cultivate strong influencing relationships with relevant societies, organisations, examination boards, and policymakers.

Advert may close early if we find a suitable candidate.

About You

We are looking for an ambitious, intellectually rigorous, and visionary Leader who:

  • Has significant experience leading systemic change and operational/academic excellence at scale.

  • Is deeply relational, capable of building high-trust partnerships across schools, local authorities, and national bodies.

  • Embodies our core values of Excellence, Collaboration, Inclusivity, Empowerment, and Innovation, and is driven by an unwavering moral purpose to unlock academic and personal potential.

What We Offer You

We want you to love coming to work. Here is how we support, develop, and look after you from the moment you join us:

A Supportive Family & True Collaboration

You are never leading on an island at Windsor Academy Trust. We are a team that co-creates, supports one another, and ensures every single voice is heard.

  • A Warm Welcome: From Day One, you will be welcomed into a high-performing Executive Team dedicated to co-creating brighter futures for all.

  • System Influence: You will have the platform to shape regional educational policy, lead civic partnerships, and drive our 2030 strategy.

  • Collective Power: Harness the operational and academic firepower of our 1,200 staff and 10,000 students to deliver sector-leading innovation.

Time to Lead, Space to Breathe

We are serious about protecting your capacity, reducing burnout, and helping you sustain a healthy professional life.

  • Unrivalled Support: Execute high-level strategic goals sustainably, supported by exceptional governance and an expert central directorate.

  • Strategic Focus: We actively strip away unnecessary bureaucracy so you can focus entirely on high-impact, cross-Trust initiatives.

  • Your Wellbeing First: Access dedicated executive wellbeing check-ins, a comprehensive reward structure, and a confidential Employee Assistance Programme (EAP).

A Bespoke Pathway for Your Career

We are committed to helping you reach your full potential, offering clear avenues for professional development.

  • The Talent Institute: Expand your national profile by contributing to Trust-wide innovations and presenting at sector conferences.

  • Tailored to You: Engage in continuous, high-level executive coaching and pioneer sector-leading educational research.

Safeguarding & DBS Requirements

Because the safety of our pupils is our absolute priority, please note that this role is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, alongside other standard pre-employment safeguarding checks. We are proud to be an equal opportunities employer dedicated to safer recruitment.
