Job description
To provide a safe, engaging, and nurturing after school club environment for primary-aged children, delivering structured play activities and supporting pupils’ wellbeing in a small village school community.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver a range of enjoyable, inclusive, and age-appropriate activities for children.
- Ensure the safety, supervision, and wellbeing of all pupils at all times.
- Create a welcoming and positive environment that reflects the school’s values.
- Manage behaviour effectively using consistent and supportive strategies.
- Prepare and serve light snacks in line with school policies (including allergy awareness).
- Maintain accurate registers and ensure children are collected safely by authorised adults.
- Set up and tidy away equipment and resources before and after each session.
- Follow all safeguarding, health & safety, and school policies at all times.
- Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and school staff.
- Experience working with children in a school, childcare, or club setting.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
- Reliable, flexible, and approachable.
- Relevant childcare qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistant).
- Paediatric First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience running clubs or structured activities.
- Knowledge of food hygiene and allergy awareness.
- Friendly and positive attitude.
- Enthusiastic and creative in engaging children.
- Calm and patient under pressure.
- Committed to supporting children’s development and wellbeing.
- Able to build strong relationships in a small village school community.
- The role is part-time, term-time only.
- Hours are spread across five afternoons per week (total 11.25 hours) (0.25 FTE).
- The hours will be 3:15pm until 5:30pm, Monday - Friday.
- The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
