Job/Person Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an outstanding teacher to join the Leadership Team of our large, successful junior school in September and make a significant contribution to the learning outcomes of all our children.

Are you an excellent teacher?

Do you aspire to lead an enthusiastic and dedicated team?

Our large staff structure enables us to clearly define roles and responsibilities within our team. Our Senior Leadership Team includes a non-teaching Headteacher and Deputy, a non-teaching Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion (SENCo) and an Assistant Headteacher for Curriculum who teaches part-time. In our Leadership Team we have four Year Leaders, each leading their own team of four classes - three other teachers, four class LSAs, a team of SEND LSAs and, most importantly, 128 children.

Our Year Leaders receive TLR2b payments to reflect the seniority of their role and regular, dedicated leadership time (currently one day each week out of class) in addition to subject leadership time. Senior Leaders support our Year Leaders to enable them to work, both pro-actively and reactively in response to self-evaluation evidence, to secure improvements in teaching and learning within their teams.

At Horndean Church of England Junior School we strive to provide each and every one of the five hundred children in our care with a first-class education. We are an inclusive school and we prioritise improving teaching and learning to meet the needs of all our learners. Our four Year Leaders work closely together to secure good provision and promote good outcomes for our children.

Our vacancy would suit a teacher who already has some leadership experience who is looking to build their leadership skills. We believe that our staff team are our most valuable resource and prioritise providing effective support and encouragement to each and every member of our team as they develop in their role over time. New members of our team benefit from a comprehensive induction programme and regular professional development opportunities, exemplified by our support for leaders in their completion of NPQML and NPQSL recently.
