This role is central to ensuring that students who are unable or struggling to access the full mainstream curriculum are supported to remain engaged in learning and make strong academic progress. You will work with students in our Inclusion Workroom, supporting them to complete curriculum work, develop independence and overcome barriers to learning.
In addition, you will deliver either targeted maths or English support to small groups of students in Years 9-11, helping them to build confidence and secure key skills.
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience supporting students with SEND and/or SEMH needs
Has strong numeracy skills and confidence supporting maths learning
Builds positive relationships and has high expectations for all learners
Can create a calm, structured and purposeful learning environment
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting inclusion and improving outcomes for some of our most vulnerable learners.
The successful applicant will access a supportive induction and training package. We welcome applications from all underrepresented groups and we are happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments individuals may require in the recruitment process, on commencement, or once in post.
We are a large and flourishing high school set in the historical market town of Hexham and are co-located with Hexham Middle School as part of Hadrian Learning Trust. We are also very proud of our internal alternative provision to support students with SEMH needs. We cherish the strong partnerships that exist between students, parents/carers, staff, and the local community making this a successful, friendly, and welcoming school. Students at QEHS have an eagerness to learn and achieve very well academically. We pride ourselves on the care we give the children at QEHS.
