New Milton Infant School is seeking to appoint an exceptional Deputy Headteacher and SENDCo to join our Senior Leadership Team. This is an exciting opportunity to continue the success and make a significant impact within our ambitious school community whilst helping shape the next stage of our improvement.

As a key member of the leadership team, you will lead inclusion across the school, champion the needs of pupils with SEND and other vulnerable learners and play a strategic role in driving school improvement. Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you will maintain a strong classroom presence, delivering high-quality teaching and building meaningful relationships with children and families.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Lead inclusion and SEND provision across the school.
  • Act as the school's named SENDCo.
  • Serve as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
  • Lead provision for SEND, disadvantaged and vulnerable pupils.
  • Monitor pupil progress and evaluate the impact of provision.
  • Work closely with families and external agencies.
  • Support whole-school improvement priorities.
  • Teach a class and model excellent classroom practice.
  • Bring energy, creativity and a positive approach

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Is passionate about inclusion and securing the best outcomes for every child.
  • Hold the National Award for SEND Coordination (NASENCO) or be willing to
  • undertake the qualification within the required time frame.
  • Has successful leadership experience within a primary school setting.
  • Has experience of leading SEND provision and inclusive practice.
  • Can inspire, motivate and support colleagues.
  • Builds positive relationships with pupils, families and the wider community.
  • Works collaboratively with staff, governors and the wider community
  • Shares our commitment to safeguarding and high expectations for all children.

Key Responsibilities

Deputy Headteacher

  • Support the Headteacher in providing strategic leadership and direction.
  • Lead and monitor teaching, learning and assessment to ensure consistently
  • high standards across the school.
  • Drive school improvement initiatives and contribute to self-evaluation and
  • development planning.
  • Support staff through coaching, mentoring and professional development.
  • Contribute to safeguarding, behaviour, attendance and pupil wellbeing.
  • Deputise for the Headteacher when required.

SENDCo

  • Lead the strategic development of SEND provision throughout the school.
  • Ensure that pupils with SEND receive high-quality support and achieve their full potential.
  • Coordinate, monitor and evaluate SEND interventions and provision.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents and external
  • professionals.
  • Manage statutory assessment processes and annual reviews where required.
  • Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
  • Champion inclusive practice and develop staff expertise in meeting the needs of all children
