Pomphlett Primary School is looking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Pre-School Teaching Assistant to join our Early Years team. This is a fantastic opportunity to support our youngest learners during a crucial stage of their development and make a real difference to children's educational and personal growth.

We are seeking an individual who is committed to creating a positive, nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can flourish. The successful candidate will work closely with our teaching staff to deliver engaging learning experiences and provide support for all children, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The Role

As a Pre-School Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning activities.
  • Help create a stimulating, supportive and well-organised learning environment.
  • Support children's learning, development and wellbeing across the nursery provision.
  • Assist children with SEND and additional learning needs.
  • Contribute to lesson preparation and classroom organisation.
  • Help monitor and record pupil progress.
  • Promote positive behaviour and inclusion.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
  • Provide intimate care where required.
  • Accompany children on educational visits and school activities.
  • Undertake first aid responsibilities within the setting.

We Are Looking For Someone Who Has:

  • NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
  • At least one year's experience working within a primary school setting.
  • Recent experience supporting individual pupils, small groups and whole-class learning.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and child welfare.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to motivate and inspire young children.
  • A positive, flexible and collaborative approach to working as part of a team.
  • Recent experience within an EYFS setting.
