Family Worker Assistant

Job description

We are seeking to appoint a dedicated person to fulfil the role of Family Worker Assistant. This post is available for an immediate start.

Your role in school will be to work with the Family Worker to support parents/carers, children and their families in children’s learning and development so that, in partnership with schools and other agencies, children and young people are supported to meet their full potential.

You will assist in Family Room preparations and presentations, helping to maintain the order and cleanliness of the Family Room environment and in the absence of the Family Worker, lead groups such as Stay and Play.

Schools are a unique environment, extremely busy and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines is essential. This is a highly rewarding but demanding role so a calm manner and good sense of humour is important.

You will join our friendly and dedicated team and will be supported by experienced colleagues.

You will need to:

  • be flexible to meet the demands of this role
  • be a positive and hardworking, active member of the team
  • be able to work under pressure
  • have the sensitivity and tact required to work with families from a variety of different backgrounds
  • be able to promote the school values
  • be able to confidently work with IT systems to accurately record information
  • work collaboratively with school staff and partner agencies to ensure coordinated and effective support.
  • have a Level 3 qualification in childcare, social care, or education, though direct experience with children and families is also valued.

The post is for 37 hours per week, term-time plus 5 additional days for INSET.

A working day would be as follows:

Monday to Friday: 8.30am - 4.30pm (30-minute unpaid lunch break)

Friday: 8.30am - 4.00pm (30-minute unpaid lunch break)

Must be prepared to work additional hours on occasion.
