Job Opportunity: Librarian
Salary: WAT Grade D (FTE £25,989 - £27,254) actual salary of £13,754 - £14,754 (approx.) per annum.
Contract: Part-time, permanent, Term time plus INSET days (Total 39 working weeks)
Hours: 22.5 hours per week (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday - 8:00am - 4:00pm)
Start date: 1 September 2026
We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and student-focused Librarian to assist with the development and day-to-day running of our school library. This is an exciting opportunity to promote a love of reading, support learning across the curriculum, and help our students develop strong independent study and research skills.
Key ResponsibilitiesManaging and developing the school library and resources
Promoting reading for pleasure and academic success across the school
Supporting students and staff in accessing and using library resources
Maintaining library systems, catalogues and stock
Creating a welcoming, inclusive and purposeful study environment
Supporting literacy initiatives and whole-school reading programmes
Leading a weekly after-school homework club on one afternoon each week, supporting students with study skills and independent learning
We are looking for someone who:Is passionate about reading, literacy and learning
Is organised, proactive and able to work independently
Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Enjoys working with young people in a school environment
Has experience of library work or working in an educational setting (desirable but not essential)
