Job Title:  Pastoral Support Lead (Head of Year)  

Actual Salary: £35,072 - £37,417 based on hours and weeks worked 

Full Time Salary: £40,958 - £43,697 (CLF Grade F) based on full time and all year round

Contract Type: Permanent 

Hours:  37 hours per week  

Provisional Start Date:  09 November 2026

Broadoak Academy is seeking a committed and proactive Pastoral Support Lead to play a key role in supporting student wellbeing, behaviour, attendance and achievement. 

As Pastoral Support Lead, you will lead pastoral support for a designated year group, building positive relationships with students, families and external agencies to ensure every young person feels supported, safe and able to succeed. You will work closely with academy leaders to promote high standards of behaviour, attendance and engagement, while delivering targeted interventions for students who require additional support. Safeguarding will be at the heart of your role, helping to ensure students receive the care, guidance and opportunities they need to achieve their full potential. 

About you: 

You will be: 

  • Passionate about improving outcomes and life chances for children and young people. 
  • Experienced in working with secondary-aged students, particularly those with SEMH, SEND or additional pastoral needs. 
  • Skilled at building positive relationships with students, families, colleagues and external agencies. 
  • Confident in managing behaviour, attendance and wellbeing concerns using a restorative and supportive approach. 
  • Knowledgeable about safeguarding, child protection and supporting vulnerable learners. 
  • An excellent communicator with strong organisational skills and the ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations. 
  • Committed to inclusion, equality and creating a positive school experience for every student. 
  • Qualified in a relevant behaviour, SEND or pastoral-related area, or able to demonstrate equivalent experience. 

Please note: the ability to attend meetings and students homes is an essential part of this role so a full driving licence and use of vehicle will be required.
