Contract: Full Time, Permanent

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of English to join our successful and ambitious English department at Cottenham Village College. Key responsibilities

As a Teacher of English, you will:

  • Deliver engaging, high-quality English lessons that inspire and challenge all pupils
  • Plan and teach a broad and ambitious curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Develop pupils’ reading, writing, speaking and analytical skills
  • Assess, monitor and report on pupil progress in line with academy expectations
  • Provide effective feedback to support continuous improvement
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes excellent behaviour for learning
  • Support the progress of all pupils, including those with SEND and those at risk of underachievement
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
  • Participate fully in enrichment opportunities and wider school life
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice and raise standards
  • Undertake form tutor responsibilities, supporting pupils’ personal development and wellbeing

These responsibilities reflect the expectation to provide outstanding learning experiences, promote high standards of behaviour and support pupil progress across a range of needs.

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong academic background in English
  • Demonstrates excellent subject knowledge and a passion for English
  • Has the ability to plan and deliver engaging, challenging lessons
  • Is committed to raising achievement for all pupils
  • Has a clear understanding of curriculum design and assessment
  • Creates a stimulating learning environment that supports progress
  • Is reflective and committed to their own professional development
  • Works effectively as part of a collaborative team
  • Has high expectations of behaviour and academic success
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong teaching practice, a commitment to continuous improvement, and a clear focus on delivering excellent outcomes for all pupils
