Job description
Teacher of History
(with the opportunity to teach across the wider Humanities curriculum)
MPR / UPR
For September 2026, we are seeking to recruit an exceptional teacher of History to join our dynamic and forward-thinking History Department. You will be a highly skilled and enthusiastic practitioner who can inspire students and help us continue to raise attainment in this key subject.
History continues to be a very popular subject at KS4. We follow the GCSE Edexcel curriculum covering Crime and Punishment C.1000-present day, Superpower Relations, and the Cold War 1941-91, Henry VIII and his ministers 1509-40, and Weimar and Nazi Germany 1918-39. The well-resourced KS3 curriculum is enquiry led and covers a range of interesting and diverse stories. In order to support this curriculum, we run various trips throughout KS3 and KS4 which you would be expected to contribute towards.
This is an exciting time to join us at Crofton; following our recent Ofsted, in which the History department was celebrated, we are continuing our focus on using effective adaptive teaching practices to ensure all learners make good progress. We are a happy, and ambitious school, excited about our journey to becoming exceptional. If you are an imaginative and energetic teacher, able to contribute to our culture of sharing best practice and want to make a difference to the life-chances of all the students in your care then this could be the post for you.
Whilst History is at the heart of this role, we welcome applications from versatile teachers keen to contribute to our vibrant, broader Humanities curriculum. Applications are welcome from qualified teachers from all levels of experience. We have an outstanding, and established Induction Programme to support staff new to the profession, that follows the national ECT programme. The person appointed will be given full support in their career development as we believe that development of staff is a key aspect in raising standards for our students.
Applications are handled on Teaching Vacancies (GOV.UK).
