Job title: Behaviour Support HLTA
Salary: CSET 8 £32,597 FTE, £24,627 prorated
Hours: 32.5 per week, 39 weeks of the year (term time only + INSET)
Working pattern: Monday - Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm
Contract type: Permanent
Location: Downend School, BS16 6XA
About the role
We are seeking to appoint a creative, dynamic practitioner who is committed to inclusion and to supporting young people to thrive, overcome barriers and reach their potential. The successful applicant will be based at Downend School working within our Student Support Team and will involve working with students who need support to modify behaviour in order to access mainstream classes across key stages 3 and 4 in a wide range of subjects. The role will involve intervention work, one-to-one and small group learning support in our Study Centre as well as supporting students as they return to classes following short interventions. Downend is a school with an inclusive ethos, great behaviour and relationships at its core.
About you
The role of Behaviour Support HLTA is a crucial role in school and is a fantastic opportunity for a talented, student-centred, ambitious professional to play a key role in a progressive educational setting.
We are looking for:
- An experienced, enthusiastic, proactive and resourceful person who is committed to securing high standards for all young people.
- A person able to plan and lead group work and 1:1 intervention sessions for students with literacy needs and who are finding mainstream classes a challenge.
- Someone with good communication and organisational skills that will include dealing with parents, outside agencies and the students.
- Someone who will provide inspiration and support to the student support team working around them.
- Someone who has a good level of literacy, ideally A-Level or above.
- An individual who has an understanding of the barriers to learning including social and emotional behaviour needs.
- Someone with good emotional intelligence and patience as well as the confidence to work with secondary students from KS3 and KS4,
- Excellent organisation skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills
