You will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and external professionals to help implement personalised strategies that reduce barriers to learning. By modelling calm, empathetic responses and helping students understand their behaviour, you will contribute to a nurturing and supportive school culture where all students can thrive.

  • To lead on restorative interventions, which aim to support students positively and sensitively resolve conflict
  • To plan and deliver relational practice plans to identified students
  • To contribute to the effective running of the Inclusion room
  • To support students being on time to lessons throughout the school day
  • To have a high-profile during lessons and unstructured times (break and lunch), ensuring good punctuality and helping to promote a calm and productive learning environment
  • Supporting detentions and assisting call outs where needed
  • To communicate with parents/carers regarding student behaviour and establish positive relationships
  • Keeping accurate records of meetings and phone calls with parents/carers
  • Attending and participating in relevant meetings as required

The successful candidate will:

  • Possess GCSE or equivalent qualifications in Maths and English at 4-9 (A*-C)
  • Have knowledge and understanding of the different social, cultural and physical needs of students
  • Have a strong understanding of effective behaviour management in the educational setting
  • Have an interest in how children learn and behave
  • Possess the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students
  • Have the ability to listen and understand but not tolerate poor behaviour
  • Be a strong presence around the school and be a role model to our students
  • Really care about children, particularly those who find learning and managing their behaviour difficult
  • Promote self-esteem and confidence and help students to become emotionally healthy
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately to students with different abilities and backgrounds
  • Work effectively with the staff team and wider school community
  • Be computer literate
  • Attend training courses considered appropriate for the post

In return, Leventhorpe can provide:

  • Excellent facilities: To accommodate our expanding roll, Leventhorpe has completed an extensive multi-million-pound capital build programme, including a new Science and Sixth Form block and a state-of-the-art Performing Arts and English block. Previous investment has included a sports complex, which features a sports hall, fitness suite, dance studio, 3G all-weather pitch and floodlit tennis courts
  • A positive working environment in a heavily oversubscribed school with an excellent academic record and high standards. We place strong emphasis on student learning and achievement
  • Exceptionally dedicated colleagues and enthusiastic students
  • Priority admission for children of staff after a qualifying period
