Job description
St Nicholas CE Primary Academy is seeking a reliable, dedicated and detail‑oriented Cleaner to join our friendly and hardworking site team. This role is essential in helping us maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for our pupils, staff and visitors.
You will play a key part in ensuring our school remains a place where children can learn, play and thrive in a hygienic and well‑maintained setting.
Hours: 12.5 hours per week (3.30pm - 6.00pm), term time only
Contract: Permanent
Key Responsibilities
- Clean classrooms, cloakrooms, toilets, offices and other allocated areas to a high standard
- Sweep, mop, dust and vacuum (including barrier matting)
- Empty bins and manage waste appropriately
- Replenish consumables such as soap, paper towels and toilet tissue
- Operate cleaning equipment safely and effectively
- Follow Health & Safety and COSHH guidelines at all times
- Wear appropriate PPE/uniform during working hours
- Take instruction and guidance from the Academy Operations Manager
We are looking for someone who has:
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work well as part of a team and also use initiative
- Reliability, attention to detail and a strong work ethic
- Experience in a school or similar environment (desirable but not essential)
- Understanding of COSHH and safe working practices
