Job description
Hill West Primary School is looking for a friendly, organised and approachable Receptionist / Administrative Assistant to join our busy school office and become a welcoming first point of contact for our school community.
Working Monday to Friday, 8.30am–1.00pm, you will play an important role in ensuring the school office runs efficiently and professionally. You will be the first face many parents, pupils and visitors see, as well as a key point of contact by telephone and email.
This is an exciting time to join Hill West Primary School. From November 2026, you will begin working in our brand-new school building, providing a fantastic environment for our pupils, staff and wider school community.
What you’ll be doing
- Welcoming parents, pupils, visitors and colleagues to the school in a friendly and professional manner
- Managing the main telephone line and school email account
- Maintaining accurate attendance and visitor records
- Providing a range of day-to-day administrative support, including filing, photocopying and preparing documents
- Ordering and monitoring office stock and supplies
- Supporting school events and activities
- Preparing and distributing communications to parents and the wider school community
- Maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately
- Supporting the wider school office team to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the school

- Discreet and able to handle confidential information appropriately
- IT-literate and confident using everyday office systems
- Able to communicate effectively with children, parents, colleagues and visitors
- Reliable, flexible and able to work effectively as part of a team
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Previous experience of working in a school or administrative environment would be beneficial, but we are equally interested in applicants who can demonstrate the right skills, attitude and commitment.
