Plaistow Hill Primary and Nursery School have an exciting opportunity for a hardworking, dedicated and creative Teaching Assistant, to join our outstanding team working within the classroom and supporting 1:1 across key stage 1 and 2. The successful Teaching Assistant will be enthusiastic, a good team player and committed to supporting the learning of pupils.

The 12 hours contract will be 2 full days, working Tuesday and Friday 8:40am - 3:10pm with a 30 minute lunch. This position is temporary in the first instance until 31st August 2027.

We are looking for Teaching Assistants who:

  • Have experience of working within a primary school or early years setting
  • Can build relationships with and nurture pupils to enable positive educational outcomes
  • Experience implementing positive behaviour strategies
  • GCSEs or equivalent in Maths and English grade C/4 or above
  • Excellent communication skills and a flexible approach to working
  • NVQ2/3 or equivalent or working towards the qualification is desirable

Plaistow Hill Primary and Nursery school is a small one form entry school in Plymouth. We pride ourselves on having a village school feeling in the city. We have great relationships with children and families ensuring a holistic approach to learning. Our dedicated staff have formed close working relationships to foster growth and collaboration. We are situated close to local woodland where we regularly have forest school sessions and our outdoor space provides perfect opportunities for outdoor learning.
