Qualifications
GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
Relevant Level 2 qualification in Childcare, Teaching Assistant, Early Years or equivalent experienceor willingness to work towards
Experience
Experience of working with primary-aged children–
Experience planning and leading activities for children
Experience promoting positive behaviour
Knowledge and understanding
Understanding the statutory requirements of legislation concerning Safeguarding, including
Child Protection, Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, and Inclusion
Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate activities
Understanding of health and safety requirements in a school environment
Awareness of inclusion and equal opportunities
Skills
Wish to work within a school and be sympathetic to the school’s ethos and aims and meet the expectations of the school’s governing body.
Establish andmaintaingood professionalrelationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
To be able to deal with regular interruptions
Establish and developappropriate relationshipswith parents and governors
Communicate effectively (both verbally and in
writing) at all levels e.g., pupils, staff, parents, visitors
